"In the Midnight Hours" by Dan Sistos (World artist from Los Angeles, California (CA))

"World" guitarist Dan Sistos' album "In the Midnight Hours" is a collection of beautiful guitar works. His unique blend of Latin, Classical and World styles take you on a journey through the ages. He is accomplished to say the least. The album opens on a high note with "La Mezquita," a high energy Flamenco number with intriguing percussion. Songs like "Nocturne" and "Song for Gloria" are beautifully haunting. The latin backing rhythm on "Carnaval en Madrid" add a nice body-moving groove to back Dan's guitar work, which is blended periodically with vocals on this track. The album wraps up with a string quartet version of "Song for Gloria," which is gorgeous. If you like great nylon guitar playing whether it be Classical or Flamenco, pick this one up.

"Live" by Adrian Xavier Band (Reggae/World Artist from Seattle, Washington(WA))

When a band puts out a live album, they do so to capture an energy. "Live" by Adrian Xavier Band succeeds in doing just that. Their sound is big and well layered. Adrian's vocals are well-suited for this reggae genre, and nicely complemented on these live tracks by taseful harmonies . "Heart and Soul" opens with a bang and transitions into a rolling groove with crowd friendly breaks and a catchy chorus. "R Love R Creation" is a great "love one another" anthem with some great Saxophone work. All in all, this is the real deal when it comes to reggae. It encompasses everything reggae is all about. If you like Bob and Ziggy Marley or Spearhead, you'll like this CD.
