"7 Spirituelle Lieder" by Peter Bayreuther (Spiritual/World artist from Germany)

"7 Spirituelle Lieder" by Peter Bayreuther is a very intriguing collection of spiritual tunes in honor of the Indian Bhajan tradition. These songs have a strong chant-like quality to their composition. "Göttlich" is very conducive to the sing-along energy found throughout this CD, and features a strong chorus of male and female vocals with a backdrop of interesting world instrumentation. In listening to "IchBinStark," one can feel Peter's joyous energy and the strong percussive groove of this track. Adding to the cultural appeal of this album is the diverse percussive instruments and drum arrangements. Vocally, the chorus-like chants are very spiritual and transcendental. Moreover, the musical backdrops of these tunes are very relaxing and reflect interesting compositions of native instruments. Fans of world music will enjoy this eclectic fusion of cultures.

"Sufi Sama" by Rizwan Muazzam (World Artist from California(CA))

"Sufi Sama" by Rizwan Muazzam is a classical Qawwali recording, that captures the experience of a Pakistani mehfil (concert). Music of this style is very spiritual by nature and so goes the story with this double CD set. The chants are very powerful and the arrangements are of a traditional nature. It is heavily percussive, with some great Tabla work. The experience is everything with this album. If you are looking to channel energy through music, this is a great way to do it. Highlights are "Kali Kamalia," with a steady rhythm and great accordian work. "Dare Sarkar" has an eerier feel to it and features haunting chants. "Ako Faridi" picks up the pace a bit and has some great Tabla work. If you like Classical Qawwali, you will enjoy this CD.

"Global Citizen" by Jamallad (World Artist from Hawaii(HI))

"Global Citizen" by Jamallad is a very impressive peace driven Reggae album with Afro pop and World elements. The tone of the album is highly positive and is a celebration of life. The arrangements are very active, especially the bass lines, and there are some nice harmonies courtesy of the songbird-esque backup singers. Jamallad's voice has a great throaty quality to it and fronts the talented band very effectively. The songs all have an identity with a strong rock presence from time to time. Highlights are "In The Now," with a big island feel, grooving rhythms and an intent for a good time. The title track "Global Citizen" features the previously mentioned rock element, with a punchy beat and cool changes. "War No More" has some fun synth horns and a fantastic performance by the backup singers. If you like Bob or Ziggy Marley, you'll like this one.

"Mediterranean Myths" by Yiorgos Magoulas (World Artist from Greece)

"Mediterranean Myths" by Yiorgos Magoulas is an emotional instrumental album that features innovative combinations of instruments. Somewhere in these eclectic arrangements a Mediterranean feel is present. The tracks all hold a certain power to them and are very cinematic. The tracks on this CD envoke emotion. The production quality is great, especially considering it is electronic/sample based. All in all, Mr. Magoulas' musical style is highly unique and refreshingly undefinable.
