"Now's The Time" by Chetenge (Reggae/World artist from Jamaica)

"Now's The Time" is the four-track CD single from female vocalist Chetengé that alternates between two genres that she clearly has her head around; smooth R&B and reggae. This single is broken down and remixed in four different ways – a smooth R&B vocal, an island reggae vocal, a hip-hop/R&B instrumental and a primarily instrumental reggae version with an occasional note or two from Chetengé. The song itself is catchy and clearly of single caliber, with the melodic chorus, "Now is the time to let my love be heard/I've been waiting in silence forever." Chetengé's vocals are versatile and sound natural when she matches both the R&B and reggae sounds. Chetengé produced this single herself and all four tracks are well-mixed and of excellent quality. "Now's the Time (Rub-a-Dub Mix)" uses a traditional reggae beat that gives a nice, relaxing island feel. "Now's the Time (Rnb Instrumental)" highlights Chetengé's production skills as she takes a break from the vocals and lays down a nice hip-hop beat with R&B elements. As a CD single, "Now's The Time" takes a catchy song and remixes it four times to show Chetengé's vocal and production talents. For fans of female vocalists, smooth R&B and reggae, "Now's The Time" to check out Chetengé.

“Book of Life” by Martin Folly (Reggae Artist from France)

"Book of Life" is an outstanding reggae album with elements of funk, rock, ska, and pop from French artist Martin Folly. Folly has created an album full of twists, turns, and talent. He appears to have a firm grasp on a variety of world genres and uniquely blends them together, creating a very original sound. Folly's vocal performance, blended with the array of genres he borrows from, puts him in the same musical vein as Wyclef Jean, Bob Marley & the Wailers, and Johnny Clegg. "Book of Life" delivers with its rhythmic arrangements and positive, inspiring, and catchy lyrics. The production quality of the album is also quite good, with nothing holding the listener back from the full experience of Folly's performance. "People Don't Forget to Remember" opens the album up with a radio-ready upbeat reggae ska number, horns included. The track has a nice melody and a catchy chorus about dropping our evil ways. "Little Big Man" shows Folly's talent as a guitarist with a great picking progression as he sings about growing up and aspirations with a "just do it" attitude. "Nobody Knows My Name" is a rock song with nice harmonica and bass work that will leave you smiling. "Book of Life" is an unforgettable album with a positive outlook on life from a talented multi-instrumentalist. Fans of reggae fused with diverse world genres, should certainly give this excellent a listen.

“Bless Me Now” by Mr. Cool (Reggae Artist from Canada)

"Bless Me Now" is a faith-based roots reggae EP brought to you by Mr. Cool. Mr. Cool uses traditional reggae rhythms and vocals to convey his message of faith, love and happiness. His word runs deep, as he pushes to inspire a spiritual awakening among his listeners. The concept combined with upbeat, danceable compositions and God-inspired sing-a-longs makes Mr. Cool a complete package. Great care was taken in the production of the album. The sound is huge and you will experience layer after layer of vocals and instrumentation. Highlights are the title track "Bless Me Now," which nicely combines the traditional reggae rhythm with powerful, inspiring lyrics and a catchy chorus. "My Sweet Lady" closes things out by departing from the religious continuity and moving to a humorous love song with a nice beat and soothing backing vocals. Overall, "Bless Me Now" is a solid EP that shows what Mr. Cool is all about, musically and spiritually. If you are a fan of roots reggae and religious concepts and imagery, give this spiritually-inspiring CD a listen.

“Pluto’s Melancholy…Music From a Dismissed Planet – Volume 1” by The Lily Pond Orchestra (World Artist from Massachusetts(MA))

"Pluto's Melancholy…Music From a Dismissed Planet – Volume 1" is an ambient new age instrumental EP from The Lily Pond Orchestra. The Lily Pond Orchestra is comprised of one man, Douglas J.P. Lee, who is the mind behind every aspect related to the making of this album. The album title should suggest a concept, and Lee embraces and well-achieves this concept by creating an interpretation of what Plutonian music sounds like. The result is a thoroughly haunting, drifting, meditative, contemplative, and peaceful ambient sound. Through the mediums of synthesizer and keyboard, Lee paints a picture that truly shows what it means to be a digital musical artist. The recording quality is also very good and succeeds in allowing the listener to drift off as carelessly and as happily as possible. "Of Myth and Mystery" has a very new age-y feel as Lee turns up the synthesizers for our listening pleasure and makes you feel as though you are drifting between stars. With "Silver Wind," Lee uses the synths to create a howling, fire engine-like wind that hovers and makes you wonder how Pluto got such a strong atmosphere. "Pluto's Melancholy…Music From a Dismissed Planet – Volume 1" is a unique, creative, and imaginative album that truly embraces music as an art form. If you enjoy ambient new age and electronic music and miss Pluto being the ninth planet of our solar system, check out The Lily Pond Orchestra.
