"Songs for Salaam/Shalom" by Bamjimba (World Artist from England)

The most recent release by the talented artist Bamjimba is "Songs for Salaam/Shalom." This album is a single release, of sorts, as it contains 3 different versions of the same song, "Allulam Hadash." This release is one for charity and aimed at giving young Jewish and Muslim listeners music they can both enjoy and dance to. "Allulam Hadash (feat. Michal Nahman)" is a more relaxed version of the song with very enlivened drum lines. "Allulam Hadash (slamdogz Remix)" is a more brooding, spacey, and psychedelic version of the song and contains hallucinatory choir like vocals cascading over the stirring percussion. "Allulam Hadash (special Dj Aka Ak Re-mix)" is still spacey, but with a definite danceable feel to it and has more emphasis on the instrumentation as opposed to the vocals. This release is perfect for those who appreciate music that tries to meld the worlds of Jewish and Muslim listeners. And because the proceeds go to a worthy cause, you can feel good as you dance to Bamjimba's "Songs for Salaam/Shalom."

"Mangoes, Musical Shorts, Vol. 1" by Jeremy Moyer (World Artist from Ontario, Canada)

The soothing tones and inviting melodies of multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Moyer's fine CD, "Mangoes, Musical Shorts, Vol. 1," adds up to a thoroughly enjoyable World Fusion listening experience. Making the intricate fretwork on various instruments sound effortless, Moyer's skills are front and center, both as a musician and as a composer. The peaceful, lulling track, "Bedtime Stories," utilizes the aforementioned string instruments to their maximum potential; the melody is that of a familiar lullaby, but unique twists are added that make this rendition truly singular. "Worker's Theme Song," with its expressive percussion, adds a rhythmic element to the album, while the Brazilian feel of "El Chino Guapo" showcases yet a different side of Moyer's musical reach. For World Music that's exciting and different, but not daunting, Jeremy Moyer's "Mangoes, Musical Shorts, Vol. 1" is a great choice.

"Wild Threads" by Wind Weaver (World Artist from Ontario, Canada)

The acoustic duo, Wind Weaver, and their album "Wild Threads" is an album that uses the musical talents of the Native American flute, acoustic guitar, and percussion to paint serene pictures in the mind with relaxing and contemplative sounds. In "Fluid Ooze" the melodic flute gently frolics around the steady, yet subdued sounds of a drum creating an atmosphere of serene tranquility. In "Aerial Wandering" a rhythmic and catchy acoustic guitar riff starts the song before an emotive flute comes in to tell a story that will enlighten your senses. "Summer Clouds" is a song in which a sympathetic flute and guitar combine to produce a well balanced song that will take you away to a warm summer day. The music within this album is sweet and tranquil as the Native American flute and acoustic guitar merge to create a feeling of placid relaxation. Whether you appreciate the sounds of these instruments or enjoy calming background music, "Wild Threads" is an album you will thoroughly enjoy.
